Dinner sales, Frustration and Ideas...all in one post!

I am paying today for yesterday.  We were out and did a lot of shopping, and I did a lot of walking.  Over did just a tad, so taking it easy today.  On the upside though, the local Reasors (kind of like an Albertsons, or Save-On up north) held it's once every few month's butcher sale...they take whole sirloins, chuck sections, etc and cut them to your specifications...the key is though you have to buy a large piece of beef.  There are great prices though....so we ended up with lots of ground beef, a large section of sirloin steaks and roasts, and a big brisket cut up the way I wanted.  All at between two and three bucks a pound.  Not bad at all :)  I like to be able to keep dinners, usually, around 5 bucks a night, and it's sales that let me do this and still serve really nice dinners.  They had a lovely pair of NY Strip steaks on sale too, so that's what we had last night. And I made fresh green beans and red potatoes, like my Dad taught me to make- though mine aren't as good as his.  But they were pretty darn good :)   To finish, strawberry shortcake, which I'm pretty sure is my husband's favorite dessert, with the way he went after it.  I love to serve it when it's in season and the strawberries are so good!

I haven't been carefully reading the news this week, mainly glancing at headlines.  And I was sick to see that we lost 6 Airborne Soldiers in Afghanistan this week, with heavy increased fire on our posts out there....then I saw today that that ^&^*%&^%&^% in Florida burned the Qur'an this week.  I know he thinks he is a man of God, but he's sure not acting like one.  This is America, we don't burn other groups holy books....burning books period is bad.  Think Hitler.  And it certainly didn't practice love and compassion like Jesus tells us to.  Worst of all, it probably had a direct correlation to killing our soldiers, and putting the rest of them in further danger.  Good job, you evil simpleton.

Well, before I let myself get too worked up over that, I better step aside, as tired as I am I cannot afford to let myself get worked into an angry frenzy.  On a positive note this week, I think I found a great topic to write at least a short story on, if not that long awaited book.  Need to do some research, but it really rings with me. Want a teaser?  Sorry, not yet, lol.

Also need to go research mahi-mahi recipes, since that's the fish we bought yesterday (on sale, thank you) for dinner tonight....hmm...what to do with it.....
