I'm blessed, like many of you, to live in a relatively safe, free country. Whether it is here in the US, or Canada, the UK or Australia...we all owe much of our ease of life to those who have fought for our respective countries throughout the years. While today in the US we are celebrating Veteran's Day, our UK and Commonwealth cousins are celebrating Armistice Day....and both days serve to lead us into reflection and gratitude for those who have fought for us these many years.
If you are a Veteran, of the US or for one of our dear Allies, thank you. If your family has a grave marked somewhere in a military field from wars of memory's past, thank you. And if you are serving today, answering your country's call, thank you.
I am blessed to have married a man who served his country with honor, and who would do so again today if called upon. His quiet, burning love for this land echoes that of so many who have put on a uniform and stepped forth. I am also blessed to have a family where so many have served, over and over again, throughout the generations. Each time the country called, our family has answered. My husband's family is the same. Our families have kept faith and done the duty asked, from the Revolutionary War onward.
I have too many Veterans in my life to name them all; besides my Charles, there are many in the family who have served, or are serving. We have friends who are proud Veterans of days gone by, and men and women still on the line.
Thank you all. And may God bless you all.
