In this day and age, it is easy to be critical, snarky, and caustic ....half our "comedy" is based upon such. It is harder to be optimistic, encouraging, and uplifting.
It is easy to indulge in the worldly, the shallow and glitzy. It is harder to love and cherish the wholesome.
It is easy to walk away from relationships, be it a marriage or friendship, when the road becomes difficult. Tis harder to stay the course and be true.
It is easy to love discord, chaos and fighting in a world that cherishes war. It is harder to seek out peace and understanding.
It is easy to condemn, hate, judge and cast stones in a culture that teaches us to feel superior to others. It is far more difficult to embrace compassion, empathy, and humility.
It is easy to measure ourselves and others by material standards, it is how we are taught to look at one another. It can be challenging to see people as having value simply for who they are.
Do you take some or all of the easier choices?
Or do you strive for the harder road? The nobler journey? Do you embrace the higher calling?
When we seek that which is better, that which is not usually sought after in today's world, we choose to delve into our virtuous side, to hold fast to that which is honorable. In doing so, we fashion attributes of a worthy nature ....attributes that not only serve us well in this life, but reflect the eternity to which we aspire.
For God calls us not to be greedy, shallow, worldly and feckless in our dealings and relationships. But rather to quest after those things which we know to be right and good. To be, through Christ, set apart for the working of God in an ever darkening world.
The world will pay no heed to your Christian walk if nothing about you is different than the world around you.
What paths....what choices, do you champion?
